In general each constitution expaned the rights and privillages of the citizens of NC as well as the sections of Government. We think the people who wrote the N.C. constitution care about the citizens rights.
The 5 key principles
1.Popular sovereignty-people are the most important
source of governmental powers.
2.Seperation of powers- belived that allocating three
basic functions of government,
( The legislative, Judicial, and executive branches.)
3.Checks and balances- no single branch can perminantly
dominant the other branches.
4. Limited Government-guarentees that government does
not hold all the power and that it does only those things that
people allow it to do.
5. Federalism- division of power between national and state
governments. For example, only the federal legislature can
declare war, only state governments can conduct elections,
but both levels of government can levy and collect taxes.
